Most of the Ribble Valley is set in AONB , Bowland Fell , Beacon Fell , Pendle Hill & the Tolkein Trail are all fabulous walks with wonderful scenery . If you just like a walk or are a more serous rambler there are routes to suit everyone. Get away from everyday life and loose yourself in our fabulous countryside .
Walk round beautiful Stocks reservoir in Gisburn Forest .Follow the Pendle witch trail. Interested in wildlife ? Visit the unique Brockholes wetland sanctuary. Salmesbury Hall is a haunted Tudor House , a really interesting place to visit. Also Browsholme Hall, Dunsop Bridge, Bowland Wild Boar Park, Ribchester for its Roman Museum and sites. Stonyhurst College a beautiful place to visit, guided tours available , not in term time. There is so much to see and do.
Our 'capital' is Clitheroe with its castle , food festival & market , independent shops , cafes , bars and restaurants and its own theatre, it is a wonderful place to visit with so much to see and experience.
Charming Whalley with its Cistercian Abbey set alongside the River Calder is another lovely place to visit , set in picturesque countryside it has a wealth of independent boutiques , and after you have shopped there are brilliant places to eat and drink including Whalley Wine Shop.
The Ribble Valley really is a wonderful place to visit , the Queen Would of loved to have retired here !

The area is an absolute foodie haven , known as the food capital of the North with a fabulous array of restaurants including a Michelin starred establishment, wine bars , pubs and cafes.
There are so many artisan food producers try Mrs Kirkham's Lancashire cheese, you can visit their farm shop at Goosnagh.
Cowmans are famous for their sausages, their shop is amazing and you will find it in the centre of Clitheroe.
Clitheroe has a fantastic market on Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday. Fresh local produce, bakers, butchers, cheese, greengrocers, fishmonger everything you would expect from a country market
What about wine ? We have that the fabulous D Byrne & Co it is a fabulous independent wine shop with varieties from all around the world. Also in Clitheroe.
Beer? Oh yes Bowland Brewery is set within the Holmes Mill Complex in Clitheroe ,they have an amazing Beer Hall, guided tours are available, immerse yourself in the experience. Also within Holmes Mill are a cinema, food hall, deli, cafe and brasserie.
Gin? It just gets better doesn't it ? The Ribble Valley Gin Co are in Longridge they distil their own gin infused with Ribble Valley Botanicals.
Huntleys cafe and farm shop is at Salmesbury, fantastic food hall , well worth a visit ! only 3.5 miles away.
2 minutes by car we have Mrs Dowson's Farm selling her amazing ice cream.
